DalnetDebates is a web community of individuals who believe in the power of words to convey ideas and concepts. We seek like-minded individuals to share ideas and express views which challenge preconcieved norms. Our goals are simple;

• Provide a sanctuary, a Parthenon on the web so to speak where people can freely exchange ideas without fear of persecution or censorshop
• A fair and democratic atmosphere where ideas succeed not because they are shouted loudest, but because they are well reasoned and supported by rational argument
• Protection from those who would silence dissent

We provide several platforms for discussion, these include

• An Irc channel where members can simply jump in unannounced and participate in an active freeform discussion on any topic, or even start their own.
• Organized formal Irc debates with structured rules and moderators and set dates and times.
• A web forum platform where any member can simply start a topic and discuss it freely
• Organized formal web debates with structured rules and moderators where two or more participants can take their time in responding (think of it as the equivelant to email-chess vs live chess)
